Welcome to Friends Making a Difference

a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization

in Hamilton, NJ

They say 'it takes a village' and our group has found that to be true! When presented with the opportunity to take over the non-profit Friends Making a Difference, we knew we needed to explore how we as friends could truly make a difference in the lives of others. We had a well established plan passed along to us which enabled friends (sometimes a few hundred) to come together and share a meal while raising money to help a local individual or family in need. And truly that was enough to be proud of and carry on as the previous board members moved on to other ventures.

When our new board started planning for the transition, it became evident that we had another group of friends that were ready, willing and able to help with this new endeavor. John, Alexa and Sara have been 'special' friends for over 25 years. As their family, we have the pleasure of knowing their abilities and the depth of their compassion for helping others. It was a win-win.

With gratitude,

Kelly and Kelly Akin, Joe and Brooke Pratico, Mike and Stephanie Pratico

Founders Corner

Thomas G. Goodwin founded Friends Making a Difference, Inc. in 2012. He was inspired by Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus, a Roman statesman who gained fame for his selfless devotion to the republic in times of crisis and for giving up the reins of power when the crisis was over. A gesture that speaks to Tom's character and his devotion to giving back to the community and those in need. He wanted people to know they were not alone and would "get by with a little help from their friends". He was joined in this venture by Robert Marrazzo, Frank Lugossy, Robert Calabro, Dawn Sizemore, Bill Kocis, Lynn Bowen, Deacon Jim Challendar, Bill Perilli and many other committed supporters and volunteers.

We are humbled by their faith in us to continue their mission and move the organization forward.
